Ken Marshall and Todd Gray met in college in 1987. A
mutual love of playing music helped to cement a lasting
friendship that is still strong to this day. Soon after they
met, they began to collaborate and record songs on Todd's
4-track recorder. Over the course of the next 4 years they
wrote and recorded more than a dozen songs together. After
graduation they parted ways and have only gotten together for a
few short visits since.
The last of those visits came in the summer of 1998 and the song
on this benefit CD was recorded during that brief get together
at Ken's house in New Hampshire. The song was recorded live
with the exception of the solos which were added later. Ken
played the bass line and chords on his Juno 106 synth while Todd
played the guitar on Ken's electric Yamaha. Together they
programmed the drums using Ken's computer. As a drummer
foremost, Todd was able to put some nice touches on the drum
track.
The album cover shown here was created years later when Ken
assembled many of the duo's recordings onto one CD to distribute
to their family and friends. Ken drew these caricatures back in
college for an album cover for their music.
