since 2002, bonzo has been refreshing their home region “ruhrgebiet” in the west of germany with their in-your-face, groovin’, spontaneous, exciting, intense and creative rock music, both plugged and unplugged. the energetic three-piece consists of the experienced and long standing amateur musicians:

benedikt hülsmann (vocals, guitars)

christoph böhnke
(bass, vocals, keyboards)

kristoff gött (drums, vocals)

the inclusion on “The Tsunami Projekt” will mark bonzo’s third public
appearance in recorded form. in 2003, they have already released their self written, engineered,
recorded, mixed, produced, mastered, designed, copied and packaged debut-album “recorded”.  in late 2004, bonzo teamed up for the local musicians’ initiative “rockforum”. the local amateur musicians put together a compilation of covers from the “neue deutsche welle”-era (new german wave) of 80s pop music. bonzo chose to play “goldener reiter” (golden rider), originally
by joachim witt in their own special way.

since 2003 bonzo have played several successful concerts in the region, among them a lot of charity appearances like the “rettungsrock” festival that was staged in early 2005 in aid of the victims of the tsunami.

on “done & gone”, diane greiwe makes a special guest appearance on tenor saxophone. the song has not been specifically written for “the tsunami projekt”, in fact it stems from the bonzo’s debut cd. but the energy of this track was something that the band wanted to inject into “the tsunami projekt” ... as a sign of hope ... and a kick in the butt to carry on supporting people in need."
